Fascinated with the way time affects space, I explore combinations of different points of time. By overlapping different photos taken of a scene at different times, I create an altered sense of reality, a 4th dimension that allows the viewer to travel back and forth in time. Originating from acrylic paint in 1996, this style evolved into digital photo collages and also 3D Cubes in 2002. Today, after 20+ years, I continue to explore and evolve this style to enhance the visual experience even further.

In 2002 Randy's 4th dimensional painting style evolved into photographic work where he uniquely photographs the same item or scene at different times of the day or year and combines 2-3 photos into the same image using photoshop and connecting the images past and present. In 2002 this started just a simple different photos placed next to each other and some with a rectangle of the scene placed over the other photo. Richards wanted to make this style more interesting and he figured many would copy his style (as they are doing today). So he used his 3D cube concept from his earlier paintings and made it even more unique, more interesting and difficult to copy.
